S-Video Out from Laptop stopped working

Today, I had my laptop plugged into the tv via s-video, and it was working perfect while I was watching a dvd, and I went to go shut the laptop's screen to see if the video would stop, and it did stop, and now the s-video out doesn't work properly.  I can get the wallpaper to show on the tv, but that is it.  I checked all the settings in the display properties and everything seems to be right, but all I get on the tv is the wallpaper from the monitor and nothing else.  Any idea how I can get the whole desktop back?

If you have already cold-booted, then I'd suggest you post the following info:

1)  Laptop make/model
1a) Video controller/driver

2) OS version/ SP level

3) DVD replay software (Intervideo, etc.)

Thanx

Okay, It's a Dell Inspiron 5100
-ATI Mobility Radeon 7500
-Windows XP(home edition) SP1
-I was using Windows Media Player to play the dvd (I can't even get it to show when not playing a dvd)
Have you tried reinstalling Windows Media Player?  It sounds like the problem is with the software, not your s-video out.

I doubt it is just with Windows Media Player, because I can't even just view the desktop, and watch myself move the mouse around and click on things or whatever.  Before I could do this and I used the tv as my monitor to do most things.

the laptops screen still works fine, right?

i often get media player moving itself off of the screen when doing this.  right click it on the taskbar, click move, and use the arrows on the keyboard to move it back onto the screen (hold it down in the oposite direction to where your 2nd screen is or simply try all).  don't move the mouse/tracker while ur doing this.

try what GigaPlus suggested, or something that may help is if you take a look in the desktop settings.  right click desktop, properties, settings, and in there somewhere (maybe advanced button) there will be detailed settings of setting up multiple displayers.  you seem to be wanting to use desktop clone but you might be using desktop spanning.  look around, settings are self explanatory.
