The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. Hi,

I've been given the task of building a new system for a friend on a very tight budget - £250 (not including monitor)

With this in mind I quickly put together the following components:

Abit KD7-A KT400A (Socket A) Motherboard
AMD Duron 1.8GHz (Socket A) OEM
Akasa AK824cu Copper Base CPU Cooler (Socket A)

Crucial 256MB DDR PC2100 CAS2.5

Maxtor DiamondMax Plus9 40GB 2MB Cache - OEM

Asus ATI Radeon 9200SE/T 64MB - Retail

Cheap Case (£35)
MSI D16 16x DVD-ROM - Retail
Value Floppy Drive (White)
Logitech Deluxe Keyboard OEM
Genius NetScroll+ PS2 Mouse
------------------------------------------------------------

I just wondered if anyone could offer any advice on the quality/suitability of these components or offer any alternatives.

The most important criteria is Cost follorwed by Stability. Performance or features are a bonus. No intention to overclock or really push the machine...
