Look for a chip on the motherboard that has the name of an audio chip manufacturer on it. Examples would be Crystal, ESS, Creative, etc. That chip will often have model information on it, such as Maestro-3. If you do not locate a chip with the name of a sound card manufacturer on it, your sound may be integrated into the chipset, and the chipset manufacturer can often provide drivers. You can also go to the manufacturer of the motherboard and see if they have it listed there, or if it's a major brand, check the manufacturer's website for more details.
