The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. Audio Trouble when errors encountered

Hi Guys.  

I am running Windows 2000 Professional SP4 on my PC, and for some reason, whenever there is a system sound played, such as "Do you want to save...", the chord sound is started, but then restarted.  I am not doing a very good job of explaining this, am I?!?

I'll try again: The start of the sound is played, and then the whole sound is played to its completion.  It sounds the same as if you go to the Sounds and Multimedia tab, and then press the ">" play button to play a event sound, then stop it, and then play it properly.  

Is this a hardware fault or software/driver problem.  I don't think that it is hardware, as it used to work under Windows 98, and also, if I just click the play button to play the sound, it works properly, but if I then click on the desktop, and press Z (I do not have a shortcut beginning with Z), it does the strange double starting play.  

If it helps, my computer is a Compaq Deskpro 4000/5133 with an Avance Logic ALS100+ sound card.  

Also, I am sorry that this is not a high points rating, as I am relatively new here, and don't have many to play with.
