PowerConnect Trunking how to...
I have a stack of 3 PowerConnect 3024 switches that are linked together and four lines are trunked to a PowerConnect 5012. I want to move the four trunked lines to a PowerConnect 5224 gigabit switch and create four lines trunked to the 5012 instead.
My understanding is that all ports on the same trunk membership number act as a single line. Is this right? Also, if an existing trunk is moved to a different switch should the switch with an old membership lets say trunk one (4 ports)on the 3024 with trunk ID #1, should that switch be wiped out and re configured or can I leave the ports alone with their current ID's and just create four ports on the 5224 with trunk ID#1 and plug them in and then create another 4 port trunk to the 5012?
This is what I plan to set up... Currently the 5224 is not in the picture.

More info.. The 5012 is in the server room and the stack is on the other side of the building. We have several developers who are in the 3024 10/100 stack that I want to plug into the 5224 so that moving large databases off their workstations and other IT functions can be done over a GB connection. Also we have a couple of servers in another area of the building that are currently using the 10/100 stack as well and I want them on the 5224 too.
I've never done this before and don't have a test environment so I don't know what can go wrong. I'm worried that the switches will keep tables and port configs (listening, blocking ect) if I don't re config them all.
