The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

DIY CD Duplication Tower

Asked by movemedia in Miscellaneous Hardware, Hardware Components

Hi there..

I have been scouting through google all day today trying to find plans for building a CD Duplicator.  I have found none, but I have found a lot of sites SELLING duplicators.  I don't have that sort of budget however.  It would seem to me that what it would boil down to is getting a tower with enough drive bays:

http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=11-182-546&catalog=23&manufactory=BROWSE

and a bunch of cheap cd-rw drives:

http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=27-106-822&catalog=23&manufactory=BROWSE

and either getting a mobo / processor / RAM in some sort of RAID setup that would boil down to one firewire or usb 2.0 cable i can then connect up to my pc.  on slashdot, i saw a simular project done with hard drives:

http://vader.inow.com/~drbob/fwcase.html

OR - if i must - building a whole new computer optimized just for cd duplication.  I would really like to avoid doing this if possible, but if i must, i would only like to dedicate this to duplication.  that means, I want all parts of the system to be sub par, except for the items that are important to burning (mobo IO processor and ram i'm guessing)

either way, the system needs to be stable.  any idea of where to start?

Thanks in advance!
-Chris
