The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Repeating Lock-ups

Okay, I have a problem with a complete freeze without error messages. A simple hard reboot fixes everything, but it's repetitious and annoying. At first I thought it might be overheating, but CPU temp marks at under 50 celsius and GPU temp is between 40 and 50. It seems to happen mostly under a moderate cpu load.. it's done it only during games (after about 20 minutes) or watching a DVD (after about an hour and a half). I swapped my X800 with an older GF4 and the same thing happens. I then thought it might be a bad block on my RAM.. I have 2 sticks..  a 512 and a 256. I tried running the system with each stick seperate but the same thing happens. I underclocked my cpu from 2.2ghz to 1.66ghz with no luck.

I'm now assuming it's either a faulty CPU, which I got about 2 months ago, or some type of damage to my mobo (got that about 4 months ago). Right now I'm thinking either ESD or something that's just now starting to kick in and become a problem. Any help at all is appreciated.

BTW.. might help: I'm using a Thermaltake Volcano 7+ for cooling.Start Free Trial
