The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. My newly built PC does not work.

OK, this is only the second time I have done this and I am not sure what has gone wrong.

I have a new PC which consists of my 2 old harddrives. A new floppy drive, a new INTEL D*&%PBZ MOBO, Intel P4 2.8 GHz processor, 512MB PC3200 RAM, my old Matrox Graphics Card (I think it's a G450).

I can't get it to work, the floppy light stays on, nothing happens on the screen, and to be honest I can't remember which of my 2 drives has the OS installed.

I want to get my old desktop on the screen before I go to bed, hence I am offering 500 points for a clear easy to understand answerthat will get it up and running as soon as possible.

Once I get the system as it was (but with the new MOBO and processor), I need to know how to connect a new SATA drive, I'm a bit confused as I can't see how it gets connected to the power, my PSU does not have a connector that is suitable for this new drive.

But first things first, and I will give the points just to get my system running.
