The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. Hello all,

I'll be buying a new system soon. my current system is:

300w PSU
Asus p4p800
P4 2.66 GHz (FSB 533MHz)
512Mb DDR 333
Western Digital 40 Gb Protege
Mecer nVidia GeForce FX-5200
Mecer 48x12x50x Cd-Writer
19" KDS monitor.

The specs of the proposed system are:

ASUS SK8N
AMD Opteron Processor
512Mb DDR 400
Western Digital 2x36Gb Raptor SATA (RAID 0)
Maxtor 160Gb Parallel ATA hdd
ASUS V9950 (GeForce 5900)
LG 52x32x52x Cd-Writer
Pioneer DVD Writer
21" Monitor

What I would like to know is:

1. Is it worth spending money going from my current system to the proposed i.e. will there be a huge performance boost
2. Which is a better platform, P4 3.2GHz HT (FSB 800MHz); AMD64 Athlon XP or AMD Opteron?
3. What good brand of NON APERTURE GRILLE monitor is available (the two horizontal lines drive me bonkers!!!).
4. What power supply would be best for the above AMD proposed system?
