The Solution Rating System

IDE Hard Drive & DVD on same cable cause problem

Using an NEC DVD+RW and installed a new WD200GB drive on the same cable.  I have 2 80GB WD drives on my other cable (including the system disk), which appears to be working fine.

Everything seemed to be working OK - drives were recognized, etc.

However, I notice that my DVD drive is not functioning properly.  Disks that play in all my other systems are unreadable, or, what's worse, read wrong.  I can copy a file to my HD with no errors, but the contents of the file are trash - not even close to original contents.

Any clues?  I have both drives configured for cable select - anything else I need to worry about?
