The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME - winXP & MS-6533 (P4 2Ghz, 1 gig pc2100 ddr)

I recently replaced the ULTRA-133 ssci w/80 G HD
with 2 ATA seagate 80G  (ST8011) HD's

The Ultra was configured as follows:
PCI slot #2 Ultra-133 pci adapter
CDROM (motherboard) IDE1

I configured the following:
removed Ultra-133 pci adapter - gone
moved CDROM to IDE2 on motherboard
connected two hard drives 1 master & 1 slave to IDE1 on motherboard (master at end of cable)

will boot and load the winXP CD and let winXP partition the master HD and load OS files
when it reboots though will get "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME"

restarted a multiple times - same results
went into bios and loaded "load fail-safe defaults"
after this, it will start, but after bios quick check, goes to blank screen, (went through the fail safe settings - yes will boot from HD0)

(there are no sttings in this bios for bios shadowing or cache memory - as suggested on the winXP home troubleshooting)

This PC worked fine before with the Ultra-133 and will still boot up if I re-install the ultra stuff.

Any Ideas?

Thanks!
