The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. Pentium4 oc'ed to 3GHz

I have oc'ed my Intel Northwood-B 2,66GHz D1-stepping to 3GHz by increasing the external clock frequency from 133MHz to 151MHz (multiplier is locked @ 20x). Everything runs stable at stock voltages, temps under load with stock hsf are 45-50 ºC and Windows is stable (Prime95 ran for 5 hours with no errors, then i stopped it when i left for college in the morning).

The problem is this, Windows XP Pro w/SP2 is what i use on my system. Now, Windows refuses to boot altogether usually rebooting or giving some Microsoft gibberish error codes (looks like hex) on a BLACK (NOT BSOD) background when I set my external clock frequency to the factory value (133MHz), but when i set it back to the oc'ed value, Windows starts normally with no problems.
