The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. Wireless Ethernet PCI Card dat was previously installed not working after XP installation.

Dear Sir/ Madam,

I upgraded my Desktop (hewlett Packard) from win 98 to windows Xp proffesional.
After the upgrade under the network connections I dont see the Wireless Ethernet PCI card that i had installed earliar this year anymore. Basically few months ago I installed a Dlink wireless PCI ethernet adapter on my desktop, by opening the desktop and installing it on the slot available. At the time it said new hardware found, at that time i inserted the CDROM it came with and it all worked fine. Now after the upgrade. This card disappeared. If I go under NETWORK connections. It only shows the WAN ethernet adapter. And doesnt even show the new wireless ethernet card i had installed. Please let me know what can i do to fix this problem and what is causing this? I am tempted to open the computer up and unseat and reseat the card hoping that it would then say new hardware found and i can install the cdrom for drivers. But not sure if that would fix it. SO please advice. Thanks ,vishal
