Browse All TopicsHi all,
I've had this problem a while now, but the crashes are getting more fequent.
2 symptons:
1) On startup I get some beeps which I haven't been able to figure out - I've looked at all the post beep messages on the internet but I can't find any that seem to be mine (my bios is AMI according to the motherboard (p4c800 deluxe) manual). The beeps are all short, with 2 high beeps followed by 1 low beep, all in quick succession, then a pause, then a final high beep.
The AMI post codes I've looked at never talk about differing tones, and talk about groups of three - well this appears to be two groups - one of 3 beeps then the final one.
2) It crashes! - but weirdly - the screen just goes black. The fans and everything stay on - in other words it has the feel that the screen has just stopped working, but this isn't the case because any media stops playing, and things like ctrl alt del don't work.
I need help! I've just bought some new RAM in the hope it's that - won't find out til monday tho. I have a motherboard monitor which reports all the fans and temperature's as being fine (I initially thought it might be overheating or something). Then I thought it may have been because of low wattage because I briefly had a 350w psu in there - but have gone back up to my 450w now and it still happens.
So I don't know - RAM, video, CPU, or motherboard? I'm really hoping it's RAM now but I ran a memory tester a week or so ago and it didn't find anything :( I don't want to be buying new things in the hope it might be that - my wallet is feeling the heat already...
Any ideas?
Any help is much much appreciated, thanks
