Hi,
I have had this problem since the purchase of my burner: a Sony DRU-700A DVD Writer. I have Nero Burning Rom 6.3.1.10 Sony Edition installed that came with the burner.
I have a 2.4GHz AMD Athlon XP processor, 512MB RAM & a 80GB Hard Disk.
My hard drive has 3 partitions, where the third is my download partition. All partitions are NTFS formatted.
Whenever I try to burn a full DVD with downloaded files coming from my third partition (which is physically the slowest, as it is on the outside of my HD), Nero falls short of its buffer. This on goes down & down at a certain moment and sometimes gets back up to 100, but usually gets to 0% buffer and the progress bar stalls. My burner's indicating light keeps on flashing afterwards, as it seems to keep on burning, but nothing happens. When I kill Nero with the taskmanager, the burner keeps on going. I need to reboot the PC to stop the burner & try again.
This happens with all sorts of writing media (DVD-R, DVD+R, +RW, different makes) & at all different speeds. No other programs are running or anything while burning. However when I copy the files to my first (system)partition, I don't get this error & all DVD's are fine.
I have upgraded the firmware of the burner recently in the hope that this would solve the problem, but it's still there.
My question is: I think the buffer runs empty because my HD is too slow at the last partition, and cannot follow the DVD burner at a certain moment. But I though the Sony DRU-700A had a burnproof feature on board, so why doesn't it work??
I'm sick of this annoying & costly problem. Does any of you have an idea what's wrong with my configuration?
Any help is appreciated!
