Question

Saving to floppy disk

I have not been able to save to my A drive (floppy disk) for some time now.  I get a message that says "The location you want to save to is write protected."  I have tried flipping the little black thing in the corners of the disks.  Other then that I don't know what to try.

You may need to change your Floppy Drive.

The gadget inside the drive that checks the position of the little flippy black thing is broken.
Could be mechanical or electrical... Could just be jammed..

For the cost of a new one vs the hassle of trying to fix it (which probably won't work anyway)
....... just get a new one.

Just open up the drive and locate the switch, then determine if the switch is open or closed when a disk is inserted. If its open remove the broken switch, if its closed remove the switch and solder a wire between the two contacts. Really easy and should take about 10 minutes.
