The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. CANNOT BOOT!! :(

Hello All!

This one just puzzles me or i must be missing something.
I've built a computer from scratch with the following specs:
Prescott 3.20ghz, ATI 9800 pro, Gigabyte board, 160GB Sata Drive, and one Pioneer Dvd Burner.

Everytime i start the computer, it would go POST saying everything OK (from my point of view) and attempts to go into the BIOS, it would just auto shut down the PC.
Thinking it may be power supply problem, i've disabled the power supply to the sata drive (as I need to map the sata interface to the IDE in the bios) and I've disabled the DVD Burner too and tried running it up again.
Same problem. Complete shutdown

Thinking it might be the floppy drive (i don't really need one actually), i connected it, and same thing, shut down.
Thinking it might be the RAM, I swapped it out of one slot and put it in another, same shutdown
I'm not sure whether it's the RAM or not as it comes up saying: Memory running Single Channel (which looks to me like it's just a message) but it does say that the Memory Testing in the POST is OK.

I'm lost for ideas!! any help would be appreciated!
