The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. New geforce FX 5500 and having problems

CPU:  AMD Athlon XP 3200+ 2.2 gHz

Windows XP Home SP2

I've just gotten a new geforce FX 5500 and I'm having troubles. The windows environment and internet looks fine, but when i launch a game or 3D mark03 i get alot of what seems to be pixel and redraw issues. The game is up to date, I've reinstalled DirectX 9.0c, Formatted and reinstalled windows XP sp1 (still had same prob so I reinstalled SP2 and ran windows update till i had none left to install, Disabled my onboard sound as I've seen posts on forums about that being an issue, Tried multiple nVidia drivers all installed in VGA mode. I even resorted to cleaning off the gold contacts on the AGP card with a pencil eraser. I have exhausted all efforts that i know to take. Does anyone else know anything i can try? I upgraded from a Geforce 4 MX 4000 and it uses the same drivers and I had no problems with it. I've also tried multiple chipset and AGP drivers. I have no onboard video either. I'm just dumbfounded by this, I've never had a graphics problem i could not solve. I've also tried disabling AGP fastwrite in system BIOS.
