my girl friend has a dell demcion 4700 that has a butten on the back on the power supply well some one pushed it and now nothing works the light on the front of the puter comes on but nothing happens can some one help me?? and her

From this pic, it looks like a 110/220 volt selector switch. Make sure that either:
110 volts is showing on the switch. or
that it is on the 110 volts mark next to it.
If you are on 220 volts house current (non-usa), make sure it is on 220 volts.

a dimension 4700 is going to have 4 lights on the back labeled "A", "B", "C" and "D". Power on the computer and let us know if each of those lights is yellow, green, or off. Also, when the computer is powered on, what is the state of the LED in the center of the power switch (can be solid yellow, flashing yellow, solid green, or flashing green). Please relay this information.
If the teen turned off the power supply, you would not see lights on the front of the PC except just a flicker, as it cuts all power to the PC off. Since the Wall Power is only 110v, swithing it to 220v could not have harmed it.
When you turn it on, do you hear it running? If so, check to see that the Monitor is turned on.
Most lower end Dells sold/made in the US normally do not have a PSU (Power Supply Unit) voltage switch for 110v to 220v, at least the one my son has does not have that option, unless it was not customized online or at a Dell Store.
The last time I visted the Dell Home office in Round Rock, Texas (a two hour drive from where I live), just outside of Austin, they are pondering auto sensing PSU's on the Optiplex Systems.

I agree 100% with Coral74 about his comment, and i guess now the PSU is not working no more.

do you mean the little red voltage selector? If so, switch it back and forth 4 or 5 times, then make sure it is set to 115, try powering up the computer.
