The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. Server shuts itself down

When I first got my server up and running it ran normally.  About a week ago the system started shutting itself down.  Up till yesterday the system would shut down between 2 to 3 times a day.  Today the frequency increased to 4 or 5 times.  This leads me to believe that it could be a hardware problem.  The system isn't really being taxed but I can hear the fans changing to higher speeds.

Please let me know if anyone has any suggestions for correcting this problem.

System Information:
Motherboard:   Intel SE7520AF2
Processors:      Xeon 3.4 GHZ  Qty 2
RAID:              ARECA 1220 RAID Card with 8 Seagate Drives
                                 4  -  80 Gig Drives running RAID 10 acting as the ROOT
                                 4 - 160 Gig Drives running RAID 10 for DATA
Other Devices:  Floppy Drive and CD ROM
Memory:       Corsair 2 GIGs
Chassis:        Intel SC5300LX
O/S:             Windows 2003 SB

Things Tried:
1)  Update of BIOS
2)  Installation of Server Manager Software
3)  Installation of Air Ducts (Removed after failure to solve problem)
4)  Changed Power Cord
5)  Changed UPS
6)  Used different power Outlet
7)  Removed 2 of the 4 fans to see if power supply was being over tapped
8)  Emailed Intel Support Several times w/o any resolution
9)  Removed Symantec Client Security
