The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Computer Keeps Freezing Up

Hi Thanks for reading,

The system:

AMD Athlon 64 3200
MSI K8T Neo Motherboard
1 GB Corsair PC3200 400Mhz Memory (2 x 512MB)
C:/ RAID 1  2 x 160GB Mirror (OS, Programs and Docs) Built in VIA RAID on Mobo
D:/ RAID 0  4 x 160GB Stripe (Audio/Video Editing Partitions) Promise PCI Controller

The most obvious symptoms are:

VERY frequently the comptuer will freeze up overnight when Microsoft Antispyware Beta runs its nighty scan.  The mouse will still move around in the morning when I wake up, but I can't click anything and the Antispyware Pop up is stuck either on its way up or down and system requires a Hard Reset.  This happens maybe about 4 times a week.

Occasionally the system will freeze up while I'm actually using it.  Usually only when I'm pushing it with too many applications, but occasionally it will freeze up without to much stress on the system.  If I have Winamp or music playing when it freezes up it will often continue to play the music even though I can't get the system to respond in any way.

Many of the times after I do a hard reset after the freeze ups I'll receive the following errors on the reboot.

1.  failure: CreateService. err: 1072
2.  Fail to load RTL8169Diagnostic Driver

I've been just living with this annoyance for awhile, but if I could come up with a solution I'd be very happy, so I appreciate any help or suggestions you might be able to provide.

THanks,
