RESETTING A SETUP PASSWORD IN DELL LATITUDE D600
Hi,
How do I reset my Admin/Configure password in a Dell Latitude D600, BIOS version A14? I want to change it to boot from floppy and forgot the password. This is Phoenix Tech, 1985-1988.
Thanks!

What CCChin is trying to say is there no easy way to reset the password. You need to replace the chip which stores the password on the Motherboard. I do now know how easy or hard this is for this model of dell or if any soildering skills are requiered.
>> reset my Admin/Configure password << contact Dell, provide them with a proof of ownership, and they will help you.
I think the one way to have your password return is to Call Dell and provide them your "service tag" number and they will provide a master password key.
but you can try other uncommon ways mybe it wil help you (DO IT ON YOUR RISK)
try this website maybe it help "http://www.tech-faq.com/reset-bios-password.shtml"

In this case, taking out the RTC battery like Shariati and gothmog suggested WILL NOT reset the bios password. Like i said, the bios password is stored in a chip that is uneffected by lack of power to it. If anything, taking out the RTC battery could make things worst by makeing the system totaly unbootable. But as others have suggested, calling Dell and providing them with proff of ownership might work
taking out the RTC battery like gothmog and I suggested *WILL* reset the bios password..
And won't be harmful ....
*NOT AT ALL*

password on bios is not firmware you dont flash your password on the chip any loss of power will delete it along with all your settings and have possibaly have boot problems. The battery is sodered to the laptop motherboard removing it for 10 seconds also must be un pluged and batt removed, at worst case leave the MB BATT out over night.
Any othersource you find claiming to remove your BIOS password is a high risk to you. It might not work (or more likely probably won't work) and it could very eaily leave you with a system that no longer works.
Via the telephone and, after a complete verification of your ownership of the computer, Dell can provide you with a master password.

if you decide to remove BATT expect this
"**** Manufactoring Mode: Level [01] ****
Press Fn-X to return the system to normal running mode
you might have to hold f12 and power button down to force boot hold thru second cycle then release then enter CMOS setup

There should be a cmos rtc jumper that can be reset to reinitialise the bios to factory settings
For BIOS password, you need to call Dell customer support and you need to give proof of the ownership of the locked computer. For user password, you can easily reset the password with a bootable USB drive, like this: http://www.uukeys.com/rese t-windows- password-d ell-laptop .html
