HDD detected in BIOS as garbage

I have an seagte 80gb HDD IDE.
lately its been crashing a lot.

I tried to check the warranty but no luck. out of warranty already.

I used seagte Diagnostic tools and tried all the test.
It pass all the test and no problems found.
Self Drive test and Full Surface scan.

nada. no problems found.

hmm.. I notice that in BIOS it detects the name as Garbage.
Instead of a typical ST3001202A it Displays as õJT4çôƒ♂I
sumthing like that.

any ideas? is my hdd that dead already?
can i still fix it?

my fried told my about firmware thing... i dont know it exist on HDD..
