Normally it should. But we once had problems with this configuration. A connected tape drive had problems with large files. After changing the card to a 32bit slot all worked fine.

I think you answered my question, I wondered what scsi card you used previously for the tape drive when you had the problem, I assume it was this one. Was it the same computer? If so, then I would expect that you'll still have a problem in the PCIX slot. This probably stems from the fact that your Adaptec controller was designed before the PCI-X standard was implemented. Adaptec strives for high performance in their adaptors. Some feature of the 29160 is probably causing the backwards compatibility of the PCIX slot to work incorrectly. Sorry.
