I would get another drive and set up a RAID 0 array so you get better read/write performance

Your CPU, motherboard and RAM are quite excellent for gaming.
The HDD is also very adequate, albeit not the fastest of the fast. It's probably not worth the expense of replacing it as long as it's not running out of space - performance differences between most drives is not dramatic these days. The SpinPoint series operates relatively quiet, which is a plus in my book. RAID 0 is possible, but will very likely disappoint - it just doesn't help much at all for typical desktop (non-server) use. There will likely be a very modest performance benefit in certain situations at best. Also, the chance of a failing drive - which will cause loss of all data - is doubled at least; many desktop drives are likely to die quicker in a RAID configuration due to the increased heat.
Since you have 2GB of RAM, you could reduce dependence on the HD by not using a pagefile at all. Quite honestly, the impact of the HD for gaming performance is going to be limited to relatively small differences in load times, so I wouldn't sweat it.
The real bottleneck of your system is undoubedly the vanilla 6600, but you've already indicated that this video card is only temporary. Get the best one you can afford (assuming you have a good monitor capable of running decent resolutions) - a 7800 GT, or GTX, would be good. I don't recommend SLI, unless a 7800 GTX isn't fast enough for you, in which case run 2 7800s. I think one 7800 GTX is better and cheaper than 2 6800s.
The X800 XL is also a good choice if you're looking to stay in a bit more sane price bracket. The X1800 XL is also interesting, but performs more or less like the 7800 GT while being more expensive. ATi's latest generation does have some interesting features though.
Good luck,
Anton
