Turning the heat off at night and equipment damange

Our office, once upon a time, was a garage that has now been remodeled. My partner and I run a computer repair / web design / network consultation and implementation business. We live in northern indiana and it gets below freezing here in the winter. My partner insists on turning the heat completely off after leaving at night, it has actually become somewhat of a "sore" issue between us. I have my test network set up in this offfice and have many thousands of dollars worth of equipment and a server that are running at all times, except for a laptop that I leave here, and turn off every night. I also have a couple of LCD monitors as well.

His argument is that since the equipment is always running, it does not matter how cold it gets in here, the temperature inside the cases will remain the same and any temperature related damage or wear and tear on the machines and LCD monitors is impossible. I am not so sure about this, can anyone tell me for sure who is right?
