The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. USB/Firewire Combo Problems

I have a customer machine that has the following installed:

It is running Windows 2000 SP4.

The problem is the ports are all recognized (USB & Firewire) in the device manager (no exclamations), however whenever i plug a USB device (Kingston Thumb drive, Kodak camera, bluetooth adapater, mouse, keyboard etc) into one of the 5 USB ports on the front panel, Windows sees a USB device but does not load the correct driver for the device and it ends up in the device manager with an exclamation. If I plug the same devices listed above into one of the USB ports on the motherboard it is recognized instantly and Windows loads the appropriate driver and everything works well.

The only difference between the product pictured in the link above is the flat ribbon cable has been replace with a round cable.

I have not tested the 1394 ports as I do not have any firewire devices for testing.

What am a I missing here?
