The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Wireless+LAN Router Question

Asked by s4m222 in Miscellaneous Hardware, Networking Hardware, 802.11 Wireless Access Points

Im looked to get a wireless router (one that has a few LAN ports) for my house. Just been browsing around on the web and realized it might take me weeks of reading into wireless articles about 802.11b A C D G + - etc before i completely understand it...

I Have 2 laptops that i would like to use with it and one desktop wireless and one desktop through LAN. I just want to make sure that my download speeds will suffer minimally  through wireless and hopefully even get better with the LAN port (currently using a OLD OLD 4 port hub). And also im hoping to keep cost down by making sure my laptops wireless cards are compatible with the New router to avoid having to purchase more...

Also i have comcast cable and my download speeds can peak 1 meg + from a good source and id like to keep my internet speed high especially for the desktop which i will LAN and not use wireless... speed is less critical for the computers which i will be using wireless on...

and last but not least id like to keep the cost under 50-60 :) any recommendations? i like netgear as a brand over other ones due to familiarity i suppose but if there is another brand thats been proven to work well im open :)

thank you in advanced :)
