Question

Winfast TV USBII Deluxe

Asked by: RavingNun

Hi,
I bought this a year ago and I never really used it. I had two problems then but I didnt bother to take it to their tech or call them.

1. Sound Driver.
I get no sound. I tried reinstalling the driver with the latest driver, uninstalling it first with their utility. Tried reinstalling Winfast PVR but it still doesnt work. Also tried reinstalling and updating my sound card driver. It actually worked before, until I plugged it into another usb port. I am running Windows XP which has an USB Audio driver, which i think i need, i suspect this because Windows searches for an audio driver for the TV box. It finds a file, dont remember name and installs it. Now I tried every configuration in the program but nothing will work. I suspect its the USB audio driver, but it has worked some point in life. I plugged headphones directly into the box, no sound but iam pretty sure the box proccesses the sound on the computer first. So probably not the TV box itself.

2. Remote Control
The remote control doesnt work, its a simple infared one. I used a digital camera pointed it at the remote control, used it, and it showed light. Which means the remote is working fine. Forgive me, if its kinda stupid and harmful for my camera, but its the only way I know of to test it. What could be wrong? Hardware problem?

Suppose the usb drivers are installed, don't confound them with sound driver.
The easyist way is to find tuner CD, insert it and when path required point to search a compatible driver on that CD.
Be sure the tuner be turned on.

As you update the new driver, may be better run Uninstall.exe first.
find it together with the driver at my ftp://81.89.5.54
I managed to take it from their site.

by: Visual3DMayaPosted on 2006-04-30 at 10:31:32ID: 16573208

Of course it needs a sound driver that takes it from the USB port for recording purposes.
Did you say it worked a time ago?
Have you installed it on another pc, have you another pc to test?
I'm curious what kind of sound card and processor there is in system?

by: RavingNunPosted on 2006-04-30 at 17:11:30ID: 16574483

It was on the same pc.
3.2 540 P4 OC 3.4
4gb ram
audigy 2 zs
havent installed in another pc.

by: Visual3DMayaPosted on 2006-04-30 at 20:15:01ID: 16574948

I very much hope you did instalation without any OC.
It was on the same pc but it worked all ok? You know, you don't know anymore?

by: RavingNunPosted on 2006-04-30 at 20:18:46ID: 16574952

Yes it was a long time ago. Maybe I insatlled other codecs or reformatted. I really dont remember. Iam almost certain it has nothing to do with OCing.

by: Visual3DMayaPosted on 2006-04-30 at 20:40:16ID: 16575000

Yes (what) it was a long time ago?
I really don't remember what?

by: RavingNunPosted on 2006-04-30 at 21:06:14ID: 16575056

I was answering to if i knew it worked before and then I said maybe i installed other codecs or reformatted. I dont remember which was backing up the "maybe".

by: Visual3DMayaPosted on 2006-04-30 at 22:26:42ID: 16575218

I didn't know what you didn't know because you told just that you didn't know: " I really dont remember." It could seem i'm more interested than you to fix. The ideea is that when fixing something you (me in this case) need sharp answers and only what you ask even if that seem to have no sens.
I like philosophy too, no problem, even it seem to have more less significance to the science.
OC can do some peculair code go crazy even system seems to be all right.
Anyway else i think is the problem, maybe an incompatible USB port, 1.1 instead of 2.0 (no, it seem a new system) or more likely an USB controller embedded on the MB that's also incompatible with that sound driver.
You could search for another or new USB driver, also if you have an external pci/usb card to test with it.
