The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Troubleshooting different Win XP Stop Errors

Asked by marathonman330 in Miscellaneous Hardware, Hardware Components

Tags: da192a, memory_management, pavilion, stop

I am working on an HP Pavilion 700 (system # da192a). Windows XP intermittently blue screens. I have received the following stop errors:

0x50 PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
0x1A MEMORY_MANAGEMENT
0x8E win32k.sys
0x24 atapi.sys
0xD1 DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

I have tried the following:

updated the BIOS
ran a Disk Cleanup and Defrag
installed Windows Updates
updated sound, video and modem drivers
reset the BIOS to defaults
replaced the memory with brand new memory
ran SFC
updated Norton IS
scanned for viruses and spyware - nothing found

I have run diags with Tuff Test and Check-It - no problems found. I ran the Hitachi DFT on the HD and it passed.

It has blue screened while just sitting in Safe Mode. Several times it blue screened while shutting down. The system froze (mouse and keyboard) while in Safe Mode.  IF IT BLUE SCREENS IN SAFE MODE, IS IT ALMOST CERTAINLY HARDWARE?

My feeling is that it must be hardware related, despite what the diags say. Any other thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
