As you are ripping, check in the running processes under task manager to see what else is consuming CPU power.
You may have picked up some malware etc.
Also, you may have some disk drive utility that is overactive for example.
Right click on taskbar and choose task manager - click "processes" tab, then click the column heading "CPU" a couple of times to sort by CPU usage.
NB - system idle is what it says - i.e. how much "spare" unused CPU you have.
