Severe stop error problems

I'm a new user and I hope this site is a good place to ask for support for personal computing.

I've been having BSODs since I built my system in March of last year, and I'm at a complete loss as to what's wrong. Stop errors are usually IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, or some variation. My device drivers are all up to date. My BIOS is up to date. I've run multiple memtests (two sticks, and ran tests on each stick separately) and all come back clean. I've run diagnostics on my hard drives and all come back clean. From my untrained eye, I don't have any leaking or damaged capacitors on either my motherboard or my video card. The power supply seems to be fine, according to every tech who's seen it. Since I've had my computer I've done three complete Windows XP reinstalls and updated all drivers in an attempt to fix the issue. I've checked for unsigned drivers using sigverif, and aside from four AVG drivers, the only unsigned drivers are two that aren't loaded. I don't know if that would cause a problem.

The bsod's seem to come after I play a video game, but only after a cold boot the next day. If that happens, I will have a very difficult time staying in my system for very long. I have tried system diagnostics on my video card and I can't find a problem. Two days ago I had a fatal system error when trying to boot in Safe Mode (after playing a video game the previous day). After a reset, I got another stop code, PFN_LIST_CORRUPT. I also got a strange error message later that same day telling me that my BIOS wasn't ACPI compliant. From what I can tell, this may be a false message as all BIOS are ACPI compliant, and since my BIOS is F12 I really can't update any more unless I want to use a beta F13 version. Just when I'm ready to say "It's dead, Jim" the computer will boot fine and I have no problems. For example, it appears to be running just fine right now, but I haven't played a video game since Wednesday. I haven't been able to swap my video card out for a different one because I don't have another PCI-E card, and I don't have the money to buy a new one just for testing. I upgraded to PCI-E when I built this computer.

It may be worth mentioning that the line in/line out for my headphones hasn't worked properly since my computer was built. Plugging in the headphones does not mute the speakers. I have to plug my headphones into the rear panel. I believe that might be a problem with wiring in the case though.

I've taken my computer to two repair shops, neither of which could find anything wrong. At one point the first time I took it in, the system froze while the tech was in BIOS.

I hope that's enough information, but please let me know if more is needed.
