Freezing Puzzle

Dears,

I have this PC which is 933 Mhz 256 MB RAM with Hitachi DVD-ROM Reader, Teac SCSI CD-Writer, 1 floppy and 2 HD (1 XP and 1 98). It has Sound Blaster Live 5.1 and VIVO DDR 64 VGA Card. It is connected to a NetGear Router and Cambridge Works Dolby Digital 5.1 system.

For about 2 months, the PC has been freezing. Only 1 hard disk is connected to it at one time. I tried disconnecting the CD and DVD and it still freezes. It does not freeze in DOS mode. It freezes in Windows mode and even on login of Windows XP. As soon as I type in my password or move my mouse it freezes and I should force reboot it by pressing the reset button on the box. I ever tried it without it being connected to the sound system or router.

I noticed after 10s of trials that it freezes when I use the keyboard or mouse. I have the top notch Logitech wireless Keyboard and Mouse. The keyboard and mouse run great on the laptop. They are connected to the PC by USB adaptor to PS/2 connection.

I would like to know why it is freezing? Interrupts? Should I reset BIOS? Should I disconnect all the parts and clean the peripherals? The machine is 8.5 years old and running great otherwise. Please help.

For the past few months there has been interference in our neighborhood. We have politicians that use jammers. I sometimes realize that by seeing that the mouse does not move in proportion to the hand motion. I know there is interference also because of low radio signal and slowness in internet wireless broadband connection.
