Browse All TopicsI have a Samsung Spinpoint F1, Model: HD103UJ, 1TB 7200rpm HDD that is housed in an external USB 2.0 enclosure (Integral Black aluminimum- i don't know the model number for it)
It has worked fine for over 8 months with no problems within Windows XP Pro. Yesterday i decided to backup some work on my MacBook Pro using OSX Leopard'sTime Machine utility and plugged in the hard-drive. Time Machine explained the drive would need to be formatted in order to do the backup, to which i clicked 'Cancel'.
So using finder i tried to just drag my work onto teh hard-drive instead of using Time-Machine but PSX wouldn't let me do it this way either. So i backed up my stuff on anotehr drive altogether.
But since then whenever i put the Harddrive into my PC (WinXp Pro) i hear the USB chime and the remove USB device icon states "Safely remove USB device" but doesn't show a drive letter. The drive is also not showing in My Computer or Disk Management. I have checked Logical Disk Manager via MMC and that is set to Auto and is started.
I ran a diagnostic tool from Samsungs site called Hutil 210.exe which did absolutely nothing. I have tried using a different USB cable and USB port but still no joy.
I'm about to try installing the drive directly into the PC to see if thats the problem and ill post back results.
Formatting is not an option as data is valuable. I'm stuck and don't know what else to try.
Any help appreciated
