reset bios password or clear cmos password

when starting up my Acer travel mate series 8000 i get a message asking for the hard drive password before it evens posts. i swapped hard drives but this didn't fix the problem. so i think the issue is with the bios or cmos settings, can any one help with this problem. the model of the laptop is an Acer travel mate 8003LCi

if it is a disk password, i fear you have to contact ACER, and show proof of ownership.
they may/may not be able to help...
should be : disk lock password..

According to Acer's manual. there is no way back from this without talking to them:

"...Important! Do not forget your Setup and Hard Disk Password!  If you forget your password, please get in touch with your dealer or an authorized service center..."

if you know how to take pc's apart they normally have a jumper and or cmos batter that you can remove on the motherboard and replace that will clear the bios settings to factory default. if that does not work i would try to download and use loftcrack that boots under windows and will allow you to remove or re-enter passwords from SAM.
I don't think clearing CMOS settings will help to recover a hard disk password.
