Raid 5 Disk changing

Hi Experts.

I have Raid 5 with 4 disks. And one hdd is failed I want to change that hdd. I buy same size and model HDD the HDD is Unallocated do I need to format HDD before I put into my Raid device?

Just Plugin the Hardware it will automatically does all the farmatting and disk allocation.

You probably need to go into your raid mangement software and include this drive into the array. Is this drive a hot spare?

It's pure guesswork until you tell us whether you have a RAID controller or not and if so which make / model.
