Half Memory not been seen on BIOS or Windows

I´m trying to install new memory on a PC

System Board: Biostar P4M800 Pro-M7 Ver. 8.0

It currently has two kingston KVR533d2n4/512mb

They work ok, bios and os see 1gb.

I´m installing kinsgston KVR533D2N4/1G

The issues is that BIOS and OS only see 512 of the 1 gb dim.

I tried the two available slots, same issue
disable quick post, same issue

installed 1 of the 512 and 1 of the 1 gb and total was 1gb.

HELP please!!!!!

Note: I have 2 new 1gb dimms that should be installed, i have only opened one so in case i need to return it i don´t have problems.

any advice is welcome!!!!

BTW: no floppy to do BIOS update.

THANKS!!!!!

Your system may require to have matching pairs. Have you been able to boot the system with only one of each installed?

Thanks,

When i install 1 1gb only the system boots.

But it only sees 512.

You think i need to install the 2 1gb so it sees the whole pacjage?
It is possaible. You should check with the people where you got the system board from to be on the safe side.
I have systems here that need to have matching memory mods.

The fact that it is only seeing 512 would lead me to conclude that the moduel is only 512mb and has the wrong sticker on it.

Thanks,
Chris

You should try getting the compatible 1GB  sticks for the board.
See the QVL  (page 16) in the user manual.

It looks like the motherboard can only address one half of the chips on the RAM you have.

I tried the other 1Gb dimm and got the same problem!! I guess motherboard and memory are not compatible. The size of the chips seems a good explanation

This is amazing!!!!

I have never seen or heard of this!!!!!

I'll do some more reasearch later.
I was not able to make this memory work on this system. I'll try getting some compatible dimms. Thanks!!!
