HP Pavillion dv6500t CTO laptop shutdown randomly?

Hi,
I have been using HP Pavillion dv6500t CTO laptop for past 2 years. Recently, the adapter (90w) went bad. So, I bought another adapter (65 w). It charges for around a minute, then loses power for ~5 seconds, charges again and goes on in this cycle.

My battery (12 cell) also had problems - power drained quickly. I could use it only for ~1 hour or so. Also, it would shutdown automatically sometimes or lose the power to ~0-5% even though the power indicator indicates I had around 70-90% available before it shutdown or lost power.

So, I bought a new battery (12 cell). With this battery too, laptop shuts down - but more often and the power indicator indicates it around 80-90% after I start it again.

Is there something wrong w/ my new battery, adapter or both? (or) Is it my laptop?
Any solutions are suggested.
