I am in the process of installing my high speed internet service via a cable modem. What I need to know is which cable splitter would be best to use to split the cable going to my television and the cable going to my cable modem? I know no splitter would be best but I have no other way to install it since I live in an apartment. I would like to buy the best that I can find, but I am getting conflicting answers on which one is best. So far I have been told to buy a 5-2000MHz gold splitter from monster cable. Somebody else told me to get a 5-1100MHz splitter from radio shack. Another one that is very popular with the chat room folks is the 5-900MHz splitter. Was not told a brand name for this one. Also, one guy told me always put a 1-1000MHz splitter to separate your television and cable modem. He also said to never use a radio shack brand and the gold splitters are a waste of money. And last but not least the splitter that I think is good to use, which I have no idea why I think this, is the 5-1000MHz splitter that is orange and white with 1GHz, 130db and Isolation printed to the right of where it says 2-way splitter. I think I saw this one at the Home Depot website. I have all the supplies that I need to do the job except the 2-way splitter. I am stuck. Any suggestions on which one to use? Or does it not matter one way or the other? Is the right one listed above? Or, is there an alternative to using a splitter?
Thanks,
Lester
