Nforce onboard nic (et. al.) freezes computer

Asked by wylackii in Network Cards & Adapters, Miscellaneous Hardware, Windows XP Operating System

Tags: nforce, freeze, nic, onboard

I am running windows xp with an onboard nforce nic.  My computer started to freeze about a minute or so after logging in.  Disabling the nforce networking control hardware device (NIC) solved the freezing problem, but adding any NIC (USB, PCI) causes the the computer to freeze.  I t is a fairly old computer so I will need time to get specs, but if this sounds familiar let me know how the problem was resolved.Start Free Trial
