The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Not able to connect to the internet.

At present, I cannot connect to the internet. This all started yesterday when I got home from work. I tried to go to google, and there was no internet. The wireless network that I was on was working just fine. I had a full connection to it, however, there was no internet. I tried resetting the wireless adapter, and this seemed to make it worse. The IP address was now reading something like 169.xxx.x.x, and the connection to the network would just hang on the message "Aquiring Network Address". When i would manually set the IP/Default Gateway it would connect, but it would give me the message "Limited or no Connectivity" After a long and tedious night of meddling with my laptop, uninstalling thinkvantage access connections (bad idea) as well as client security solutions (another bad idea) i finally got my computer sort of working again (in that I could now access my files/log in) and the network problem still persisted. I finally ran winsockfix, and that seemed to -almost- fix the problem. I can connect to the network. It connects immediately. there is no lack of connectivity(reported anyway) and when I run IP config, I even get a dns suffix (something that I hadn't before.) but still, no internet. I can't connect to google through a browser, and I cant Ping it.

I have tried installing new drivers for the wireless, as well as running the latest version of AVG (which returned 'No Threats')

There are Other PCs and Laptops connected to this network as well, but none of them exibit this problem, This problem also carries over to my Work Network, which also has other PCs on it. (so its not likely to be caused by the Router)

My Laptop is a Lenovo x60 Tablet 6366-4DU
the network Card is an Intel Pro/Wireless 3945ABG
I am running on Microsoft Windows XP Professional (Tablet Edittion)
Version : 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600

When I run IPConfig this is what i Get:
(Wireless) Connection Specific DNS Suffix = sisDomain.Local
IP Address                                                       192.168.10.124
SubNet Mask                                                    255.255.255.0
Defauly Gateway                                             192.168.10.1

If it means anything, i was trying to set up an FTP Folder at work on my laptop before all of this happened. I may have changed some of the settings, but im pretty sure that everything is back to the way it was before I tried.

Any help would be Much appreciated
