A client has 30+ PC's with Intel DG31PR mainboards, Win XPP SP2 loaded on a Windows 2003 domain. All is fine, users login, map drives, home directories etc and then log out when finished. The PC's go to standby - when next user group arrive the PC's come out of the screensaver/standby to show normal login screen, users login but are unable to locate roaming profile etc and don't map drives, can't access home directories. A restart of the PC's & all is OK again!!! I have set the standby to minimum in BIOS (off isn't an option), have set Win XP to not shutdown drives, monitors or cut power to NIC, all with no effect on the problem. Happens to most of the PC's in an apparently random fashion & is getting past a joke! Have to get users to shut down after each session and that shouldn't be necessary. I suspect a network issue as I haven't been able to duplicate the problem with one of the PC's in the workshop attached to a test server.
