Back speed from systems into a NAS

Asked by Paul_Blackler in Networking Cables, Hard Drives & Storage, Network Cards & Adapters

Tags: ,

I am running a 1Gb LAN wuisng CAT5e cable from servers (2003) and workstations in a mix of XP and 2000 (16 systems in all) . These systems are attached to a DELL NAS system. However it is taking longer to do the weekly backups (64 hours for 875Gb) - the drives are all SCSI on both the Workstation/Server end and obviously NAS. I need to know what is causing this bottleneck if any - or is this normal for this amount of data.
+ If it is the network that is causing the bottleneck, then what are my options on upgrade using the existing CAT5e (Intel Pro 10Gb ?) Thanks Start Free Trial
