Cable considerations:
For 500 m stay away from plastic. Use glass fiber. Consider the entire run path. Will it be buried? In conduit underground? Damp location? Then need underground grade.
Will it travel through HVAC return ceiling? (will it pass above a hanging grid ceiling? Is the airspace above the hanging grid ceiling used as an open (not ducted) return for the HVAC?) Then you will need to use plenum rated fiber cable.
Will the cable be accessible? In the open? Could people or equipment touch it? You may wish to consider armored cable.
How many pair will you need? Will there be future growth? Consider a couple spare pair just in case something happens (someone bends the fiber while plugging it in, etc.).
Have a great day.

http://www.10gea.org/optic al-fiber-1 0ge.htm. This explains the different types of fiber and type of interface you need. You will have to go for the higher powered LW interface type so make sure the HP swich you go for supports it.
