Using fiber to connect Cisco and Netgear switch

Asked by VaughnInd in Network Switches & Hubs, Networking Cables

Tags: Netgear, Switch

Netgear switch #1 is linked to a cisco switch via fiber optic gbic (works fine)
Netgear switch #2 is linked to Netgear switch #1 via a copper cable on the back side (master to slave)
Netgear switch #3, and #4 are linked to Netgear switch #2 via fiber and gbic ports (works fine)

Problem:
We would like to eliminate switches #1, and #2. However when we try to patch Switches #3, and/or #4 into the cisco gbic port that feed switch #1we can not get a link (reversed polarity of fiber and checked continuity)

The netgear equipment predates the current staff, and we were wondering if there is a configuration parameter that is not allowing the netgear switches to automatically connect to the cisco switches.Start Free Trial
