The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Detecting Spam on ASA Firewall

Asked by jrb139 in Networking Hardware Firewalls, Cisco PIX Firewall, Anti-Spam Email Software

Tags: asa, detecting, firewall, network, spam

Hello Folks.
Our ISP has informed us that our site is sending out SPAm and I am trying to track down from where.
This question is regarding tracking what is being sent out from our network through our Cisco ASA firewall
on Port 25.
If I use the command 'sh xlate' it displays a list of PAT's with internal IP's addresses mapped to ports on the external IP address of our ASA.

The only port 25 Map there is listed is from our exchange server as below

PAT Global 62.49.86.76(110) Local 192.168.22.40(110)
PAT Global 62.49.86.76(25) Local 192.168.22.40(25)

If Spam was being sent directly from a client and not from our mail server would that show up in the list aswell.

Can I assume that the only time it would show up would be when it is happening in real time, in other words I would have to be lucky enough to type the command at the time that the spamming PC was sending mail to be able see it listed. Or is there a certain amount of historical connection inofrmation maintained?

TIA
JO
