Question

how to setup up exchange to send and receive email from another domain.

Asked by: g-techforce

Here is what im dealing with.

The client I am working for is based in Germany. Germany is where they host thier email for "domain.com"
the USA office recently bought a SBS server and wants to use exchange server to collect email from "domain.com" to distribute it to thier clients on the USA domain which is "domain.local"

so they have:
domain for email: domain.com  (hosted in germany)
domain for sbs server in USA: domain.local

I have setup pop3 connector to connect to the email host in germany to collect the usa email. and put it in the mailbox of the user it belongs to.

the problem i have having is sending out email externally.

Since I have never setup a sbs server in this type of fasion, im confused at how smtp would work sending out email as "domain.com" since the server is "domain.local"
