This is happening across twenty five different firewalls/networks and the source workstations do not have any p2p clients, viruses or spyware/adaware that we can detect.

That sheds some light however before we blocked llnw.net it moved 700 megs on one workstation even though we find no traces of p2p or malware. The only traffic we seen moving was related to microsoft. We then found workstations that had automatic updates installed were showing failed and the firewalls starting logging that updates.microsoft.com were blocked along with a stats.microsoft.com were being blocked.

Someone on your network probably has limewire installed on their computer. Can you see where the traffic is going to on the local network?
