Cisco ASA 5510 Username/Password Recovery

I have a customer who has lost his username/password to the Cisco ASA 5510.  I would like to reset both username/password to be able to logon to the Cisco ASDM.  Please assist.

On Step 4 couldn't I use > confreg 0x41 instead of going through the configuration prompts?

Once I follow these steps.  Will I be able to launch ASDM and logon with the new username & secret password?

for asdm access you need to make sure that your http server is ebnabled, and that too on the interface you want to access it from.

Once you have configured the username and assigned it the appropriate privilege level, browsing to the asdm url and gaining access should be a breeze :)

I can successfully ssh and http remotely into the ASA external IP address.  However, because the customer doesn't know their username/password I can't logon.   Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't I be able to use the same CLI username/password from the passwordrecovery to logon to ASDM?

Yes, once you change the passwords, ssh into the device to make sure the creds work.

while there check to see if the following lines are present:

http server enable
http 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 inside (or management) (also amke sure your IP scheme matches)

That's all you'd need to get asdm access.

Unless...

You've got java issues

Thanks, I just completed a test with ASA 5505.  Everything seem to work.   Tommorrow I will visit the customer onsite and use the commands.  Once again, Thanks!!
