The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Sonic Wall IP spoofing

Asked by sagetechit in Network Routers, Networking Hardware Firewalls, TCP/IP

We have a Sonic Wall PRO 4060 Security appliance and we are running into a mislabeled IP spoofing attack issue:
HI we are having same problem but a little different.

We have a user (company owner) who has the same Cable internet provider as we use at main office for our secondary connection to internet. When he is trying to connect it will not allow due to IP spoofing. the IPs are 71.94.XXX.XXX

Here are interface settings on router:
IP address Subnet Mask
X1 WAN 65.40.XXX.XXX 255.255.255.128
X2 WAN 71.94.XXX.XXX 255.255.248.0

This is error from error log

1 11/04/2009 09:48:04.736 Alert Intrusion Prevention IP spoof dropped 71.94.XXX.XXX, 60728, X1 65.40.XXX.XXX, 3389, X1 MAC address: 00:30:88:01:62:8b

He can get access if he tries conencting with the secondary IP address, but this is not possible to use for other email services as they are linked to the 65.40 address, so he has to use it.

How can I fix this issue? I could get him another ISP but then we might have same issue later with different people. Can I just disable IP Spoofing for a block of address? or a whitelist?

There is an option in the diag.html section of the appliance web interface that says it disables IP spoofing, but all it seem to do is disable the reporting, not the actual service.

any ideas?

Thank you
